A Long-Expected Hiatus

There comes a time when a blogger must take a break–when blogging becomes a chore instead of a joy.  I’ve reached that point, and have even felt the stirrings of animus towards anime.  Last season, I only finished three shows.  This season in particular strikes me as odiously mediocre, though I’ll heartily endorse Aho Girl.  The series occasionally pushes the envelop too far in regard to the humor driven off sex, but it’s genuinely funny.

I’ll also recommend a book about Communist persecutions of Christians: Tortured for Christ by Richard Wurmbrand.  The witness of Christian prisoners under torture greatly inspires.  Also, the book includes some incredible conversion stories, such as a Russian woman who only knew the name of Christ.  The name of Christ produced such a longing in her soul that she only awaited someone to instruct her in the Faith before she converted.  Certain accounts of the torture are not for the faint of heart, but this book is perhaps as important as The Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solzhenitsyn in learning the evils of the communist system–and Tortured for Christ is far shorter.

When shall I return?  Next season?  Next year?  Next month?  We’ll see.  These nadirs of creative energy come over me time and again, and I need to refresh myself–to shake up the cocktail of my writing.  So, God bless you all, and sayonara!

    God bless you too, then.
The Gulag Archipelago remains one of my key readings: human, full and grace, and such a powerful, clean cry for justice! Thank you for your insightful and chivalrous writing: I´ll be looking forward to your return.

Awww. :[ Well…I for one will definitely miss you. Your thought processes are a breath of fresh air in a sometimes dull world. Mar indicates he will miss the intelligent theological sparring he contributed to, although he is aware that you won’t miss him. ;]

Anyway, I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Spend some time with God to refresh yourself in His presence. He will spark that creativity, and maybe even take it in a new direction, who knows?

Tortured for Christ, I’ve seen that book several times in a magazine of Voice of the Martyrs I used to get. I never read it, but I heard it’s great. God bless you sir, always interesting to read your work.

  7. […] Yet another staff member, Medieval Otaku, has decided to take a hiatus on his writing until further notice. I for one am looking forward to when he returns. Taking a break is helpful for writers though, I can testify to that. (Medieval Otaku) […]
