Look at the US flag about their Independence Day,and let’s wonder about the lack of anime featuring the Greek flag and 1821 War too!

It would be nice if Greece were more represented in this anime, but America is more in the Japanese conscience that Greece. Unfortunately few anime are even based on classical literature.

Wow, what an error on my part! I meant to write “more in the Japanese consciousness than Greece.” And, the reason is simply because America’s history is more intertwined with Japan’s than Greece is. I’m not making a value judgment over whether America or Greece has made greater cultural contributions, but simply pointing out why the Japanese themselves would be more interested in America than in Greece.
Though, it would be cool for more anime to reference Greek culture. Off the top of my head, I can only think of Saint Seiya, Ulysses 31, Arion, and Shingeki no Bahamut.

I see,so the point is all about that today’s Greece doesn’t give the sense of Grandeur.But the Greek ninja Elektra(Marvel comics) should be appreciated and be in a good anime.
